West African Civil Society Forum

is a regional platform that brings together civil society organizations (CSOs) across West Africa to promote participatory governance, regional integration, peace, and sustainable development.

Established as a bridge between citizens and regional institutions, WACSOF serves as a collective voice for civil society engagement within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) framework and beyond. It provides a space for dialogue, advocacy, coordination, and knowledge-sharing among diverse stakeholders committed to strengthening democracy and accountability in the region.

Our Vision

A peaceful, democratic, and prosperous West Africa where citizens actively participate in shaping policies and governance processes. WACSOF envisions a well-organized vibrant civil society in West Africa which contribute to the attainment to a stable and prosperous West African region, free of violent conflicts and characterized by democracy, human rights, good governance, rule of law, constitutionalism, social justice and economic prosperity.

Our Mission

To strengthen civil society in West Africa by fostering collaboration, amplifying citizen voices, and promoting inclusive policies and regional integration.

WACSOF serves as the receptacle for civil society organizations by serving as the channel of engagement with ECOWAS and other regional and international organizations, empowering them to harness public space at the national, regional and continental levels in order to contribute to an integrated, stable and developed Africa.

What we do

Advocacy & Policy Engagement
We engage regional institutions, governments, and partners to influence policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of West African citizens.
Regional Coordination
WACSOF connects civil society actors across countries, facilitating collaboration, joint actions, and unified responses to regional challenges.
Research & Knowledge Sharing
We produce analysis, reports, and policy briefs to inform decision-making and strengthen evidence-based advocacy.
Capacity Building
We support CSOs through training, technical assistance, and resources to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability.
Peace & Democratic Governance
WACSOF promotes civic space, electoral integrity, human rights, and conflict prevention across the region.
Our Approach

WACSOF operates through a participatory and inclusive approach, ensuring that diverse voices—especially women, youth, and marginalized groups—are represented in regional dialogues and decision-making processes.

Our Network
Our strength lies in our broad network of national platforms, thematic groups, and partner organizations spanning all ECOWAS member states. This network enables us to act collectively and respond effectively to emerging regional issues.
